Home Page vs. Inside Pages for Websites
Not all pages on your website serve the same purpose. Your home page and your inside pages play different roles—and both are important.
The Home Page: Your Front Door
Your home page is often the first impression visitors get. It should act like a high-level overview that quickly tells people:
- Who you are
- What you offer
- Why they should choose you
- Where to go next
A good home page helps visitors dive deeper into your site. Think of it as a welcome center with signs pointing to the most useful areas—services, contact info, blog, etc.
Inside Pages: The Details
Inside pages (like Services, About, or Blog posts) are where you go deeper. These pages focus on specific topics and are usually optimized for search engines. People might land on these pages directly from Google, without ever seeing your home page.
That’s why each page should still be clear and helpful on its own.
Best Practices
- Home page: Keep it simple, visual, and easy to scan. Include clear calls to action.
- Inside pages: Focus on one topic at a time. Use headings, images, and internal links to guide readers.
Both types of pages work together to help visitors learn more about you and take action—like calling, filling out a form, or making a purchase.
